Genesis 2:15-17

GENESIS 2:15-17 (multiple versions NIV, KJ, NLT, American Standard)

The Lord God Creator of all things placed man in the garden of Eden. The man was to work and keep( guard, watch closely) the land.
What did God command?
That he could eat freely from any tree of the garden. BUT from the tree of knowledge of good and evil he shall not eat.
What did God declare would happen if the man ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil?
in the day that he eats from it he shall surely die.

Are we willing to have God set us in a place and do the work He has given us? Do we keep a careful watch over the territory given to us by God? Do we obey His commands as to what we can and cannot do within the place He has given to us? I confess that I don't tend to the garden as well as I should. I often see addicts and troubled youth on the bus & I have not spoke to them about Jesus. When I am on the check-out line and see parents who are overworked, tired & frustrated, I have not shared that Jesus said come unto me all who are weary...I will give you rest. Nor have I told my neighbors who are tense and fearful about the direction our nation seems to be headed...that Jesus said do not fear I have overcome the world. Surely if I am not providing life then am I responsible for death? If a physician knows how to save his fellow man and yet does not act because he is off duty-is that physician responsible for not using his gifts, talents, skills & knowledge? Where is our focus? Jesus said that we are to love God and to love others-that the whole of the commandments rest on those two.
God told the man to work & care for the garden. He commanded him not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good & evil. Because Adam & Eve disobeyed and ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil they were cast out of the garden. They would now experience death.
Jesus told us to love the Lord Our God and to Love others. Jesus told us to preach his gospel throughout all the world. Peter had said to Jesus where would we go- you have the words of life?
Jesus gave those words to us to share with others.
