Ruth....the discussion continues
Ruth what a great great discussion! We spoke about whether Naomi and family should have left Bethlehem-Judah during the famine. Did you know that Bethlehem meant bread and Judah meant praise? Did you know that Moab represented a place of sin (a worldly place)? So Naomi and family left a place of sustenance and joy for a place of sin. Naomi and family left Bethlehem, move to Moab and returned to Bethlehem was compared to Jesus leaving heaven, coming to earth and then returning to heaven.
Both of Naomi's daughters accompanied her on her way to Bethlehem. Naomi advised them to return to their homes and find husbands. Orpah agreed to return home but Ruth insisted on staying with Naomi proclaiming that Naomi's God would be her God. Some of us could relate to Orpah wanting the sure security of home rather than face the possible hardship with Naomi. We also saw that this could relate to Jesus' parable about how some would fall away.
Naomi's family moved from Bethlehem to Moab-Ruth lived in Moab and returned to Bethlehem with Naomi...could this be symbolic of the coming together of Jew and Gentile awaiting the return of Christ Jesus our King?
Boaz' instruction to Ruth not to glean in another field but to only glean in his field --- included his provision and protection for Ruth. We'd be wise to glean only in the field of the Lord and remain under His protection and provision.
Boaz represents Jesus and Ruth represents the Bride of Christ. Does the near relative represent the Law?
What was the purpose of taking off the shoe?

What was Naomi's reaction when Ruth returned with the barley?
What was Naomi's reaction when Ruth told her about Boaz?
Has there been a change in Naomi? If so what changed?
What advice does Naomi give Ruth?
